Kumasi Campus of VVU to hold first matriculation

KUMASI Campus of the Valley View University (VVU), Ghana’s first private chartered university, is about to hold its maiden matriculation ceremony to officially accept some 350 students pursuing different courses of study.

That will be the 22nd matriculation of the VVU in general and this time, afford the matriculants the opportunity to study both Undergraduate and Post-Graduate Programmes for the purposes of furtherance of education.

The Principal for Technical Education at the Kumasi Campus of the University of Education, Winneba, Professor Reynolds Okai is expected to be the Guest Speaker for the occasion while the Kwadaso Abasehemaa, Nana Akyaa Tiwaa III will be the Royal Guest of Honour.

Those to be in attendance to grace the occasion are the Vice Chancellor of VVU, Pastor Prof. Daniel Kwame Bediako; the Acting Rector of the Kumasi Campus of the VVU, Pastor Dr E. B. Amponsah, and the Chairman of the VVU Council, Pastor Dr. Kwame Kwanin Boakye.

Apart from Post-Graduate Diploma in Education which is elongated (only on Sundays), the campus also offers Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Banking & Finance, Human Resource Management, and Strategic Management.

Public relations officer attached to the Kumasi campus of the VVU, Mr. Daniel Tweneboah Kodua disclosed that the campus is yet to introduce MBA for the Accounting Option.

Again, he says the campus offers both Master of Education (M.Ed) and Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) in Curriculum & Instruction and Administration and Leadership.

Bachelor’s degree programmes by sandwich/distance

He says Undergraduate Programmes at the campus are Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) with Secondary Education option in English, Mathematics, Social Studies, Information Communication Technology (ICT), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Accounting, Management, and Human Resource Management, which are all offered in sandwich mode.

For its distance learning programmes (only on Fridays & Sundays), he says the campus recently began Access Course for Nursing Health Assistant Clinicals and Nursing Assistant Clinicals on February 27, 2017.

He hints that the access course will take students through Mathematics, English and Integrated Science for a period of six weeks after which successful students will be admitted to Level 200 for a Bachelor of Science degree (BSc) in Nursing.
