24 Adventists pass out at Police Training School in Accra

LAST Friday a graduation ceremony was held for 618 police recruits at the Tesano National Police Training School in Accra. Among them were 24 Seventh-day Adventists, 14 male and ten female constables.

Two Adventist chaplains from the security agencies and a conference officer were in attendance to show their support to the recruits. They were Chaplain General Corporal Danso Marfo, of Accra City Conference in charge of Adventist Police Church at Police Depot, Tesano. The other was Major Peter Nyarko Duodu, Administration Officer of Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Religious Directorate, and Deputy Director for Religious Affairs SDA and Church Pastor/Chaplain of Garrison Seventh-day Adventist Chuch, Burma Camp.

Pastor Nathan Odonkor, Executive Secretary of Accra City Conference of Seventh-day Adventist Church delivered a well-crafted message to the police recruits and their families. He used the word “POLICE” as a title and acronym, and unpacked it as follows:
“Polite: Be different in your behavior (Philippians 1:27)
Offer service to God and country (Roman 12:1-2, Luke 6:38)
Listen to words and feelings (James 1:19)
Intelligence: Apply wisdom (Proverbs 2:6
Compassion: Care for people, protect (Colossians 3:12
Excellence: Do your work in an outstanding way (Philippians 4:8).”

Pastor Nathan Odonkor, Executive Secretary, Accra City Conference, is cutting cake with support of the recruits.

One Adventist police officer had his son among the successful recruits who graduated on that day.
